Operating in a traditional house near the train station of the old town of Taichung, Entry Coffee & Bistro stands in this district sprinkled with many military dependents’ villages built during the Old Era—vestiges bespeaking the events of the time. Besides their enthusiasm and determination to promote coffee culture and the culinary arts, the two young founders have made it their mission to revitalize this architecturally significant district.
The design concept of the building draws on features found in the surrounding environment, such as creeping ferns on the concrete blocks and mottled interior walls. We hope to present the physical structure of the building through the abstract concepts of stacking and interlacing shapes, which creates the impression of modernism through spatial innovation while maintaining the elements of historical traces.
