The origins of Chifeng Street can be traced back to the Japanese colonial period, a legacy still evident in the architecture that remains today. Seven to eight decades ago, Chengde Road was an unpaved dirt road lined with blacksmith workshops forging metal tools, earning the area the nickname “Blacksmith Street.” Over time, the district has gradually transformed into one of Taipei’s most vibrant creative and cultural destinations.
When Ba Shi Grass Jelly – Zhongshan Store was established here, the initial design challenge was to reveal traces of this historical evolution while simultaneously narrating the story of the Ba Shi brand to its visitors.
